Leavesden Park – Solar Lighting Upgrade
Client:
Three Rivers District Council
The Work
Traditional wired lighting was not a viable option, as Three Rivers District Council aimed to preserve protected land and avoid the disruption and cost associated with trenching and underground cabling. In areas where dense tree cover limited solar efficiency, selected lighting heads were upgraded to hybrid solar units to maintain performance. Several columns were also replaced with ornate heritage-style posts to blend seamlessly with the park’s character and surroundings.
The Solution
A combination of solar and hybrid solar lighting was deployed to suit the varied terrain and canopy conditions. The system delivered reliable illumination across the park without the need for invasive groundwork or expensive infrastructure. The use of hybrid heads in shaded areas ensured full coverage, while the ornate posts provided a visually sympathetic upgrade in keeping with the site’s setting.
